HUD to Release New ESA Guidance

Missed the NARPM Capitol Summit in Washington, DC this week? You missed a big HUD headline, but we were there and have you covered.

Craig Trainor, HUD Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity, announced this afternoon that HUD will soon release new ESA guidance.

This follows HUD’s recent move to withdraw its 2013 and 2020 assistance-animal/ESA guidance and instruct parties not to rely on it while the agency reviews and updates its approach.

What to expect: clear, practical, and updated protocols for property owners and operators needing guidance on how to handle ESA requests going forward.

We’re watching closely for the release and will share updates the moment HUD publishes anything official.
