The Senate’s ROAD to Housing Act of 2025, which stands for Renewing Opportunity in the American Dream, is a wide-ranging bipartisan initiative designed to expand the housing supply and tackle the affordable housing crisis. The bill advanced on Thursday.
Senator Tim Scott, R-S.C., who chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, and Senator Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., the committee’s ranking member, announced a “historic legislative markup” of the bill. The committee discussed the package during a live-streamed executive session on Tuesday, July 29, at 10 a.m.
This package aims to take significant steps to increase the nation’s housing supply, enhance housing affordability, and improve oversight and efficiency within federal regulators and housing programs. Scott and Warren emphasized that this marks the committee’s first bipartisan housing markup in over a decade.
